About MOWPHIL

The Philippine Memory of the World Committee (MOWPHIL) isPhilippine Memory of the World Committee Logo the country’s lead organization in implementing the UNESCO Memory of the World Programme. It is guided by the programme’s objectives:

Objectives

  1. To facilitate preservation, by the most appropriate techniques, of the country’s documentary heritage;
  2. To assist universal access to documentary heritage; and
  3. To increase awareness nationwide of the existence and significance of documentary heritage.
MOWPHIL Programme

Philippine Memory of the World Committee Logo

  • Encourages, receives and assesses nominations of documentary heritage for inclusion in the National Memory of the World Register;
  • Coordinates and proposes nominations from the Philippines to the Regional and International Memory of the World Registers;
  • Works in close cooperation with governmental and non-governmental organizations in the Philippines in developing the National Register and contributing to the Regional and International Registers;
  • Raises awareness and promotes the MOW Programme in the Philippines;
  • Ensures access to documentary heritage through all effective means e.g. mass media, information communication technology and other channels; and
  • Promotes preservation of documentary heritage through digitization.
